On this site you can find useful free translation tools as for e-mail translation, as for web and text ones. I have been interested in Language Identificator, which allows to recognize what language is it just by several words.

I use an operative online-translation, which is to the address http://www.online-translator.com and refers to as "Online Translator".
This service includes 24 variants of translation on various languages: English, Russian, German, French, Spanish, Italian and Portuguese. There is a small inconvenience - limits the size of text translated to 500 symbols.

I've thought for all the time that everything a translator needs is just a simple dictionary to solve difficulties with word comparation. Any grammar or semantical specifics of each language translator knows are obligatory, or that translator is worse than machine translation service, and machine service is quite shity (I don't know how else to call it).

I do occasionally use an online translator to get me started, if the text is confusing, but i mostly use a combination of online dictionaries and google to find difficult words.

dict.leo.org (german-english: english-german)

dict.tu-chemnitz.de (also G-E; E-G)
